Heart Bowl, 15 strings, in Yew
Heart Bowl number 610
Heart Bowls of this size have a stately grandeur by which they needs-must be played slowly. These notes do not ask for a riff or even bright chords. Each note sounded fills out after plucking so richly that one must be careful not to crash in with any jazzy impro on top. Even the speed it is played in this sample is pushing against the maximum at which it sounds good.
One other bowl like this exists. Yew wood of this size is incredibly rare, there will probably never be another. Smaller versions with 11 or 13 strings may be possible. This bowl is already sold, the previous one is out at work and creating wonder, but I had to post it because its rarity and beauty should not pass unseen into private hands. If you want to see this seek out the singer Olivia van Dort. We can make bowls this size in other woods, each with their own sound and power. Yew is not so likely to be possible.
