Melody Bowl in Cherry
Melody Bowls have their notes laid in the easiest format to play. Both for those new to music and for working with clients who need re-assurance this layout is easy to use. Additionally this 9 string size can be played in both modern scales as well as the ancient pentatonic modes. The tuning chart that comes with it shows clearly the Hebridean Pentatonic amongst others in which there are no dissonances meaning that anyone can make beautiful music with no musical experience and no fear of clashing sounds. The sound-sample on this page is in this scale. Cherry as a wood has a bright dancing tone full of light and merriment. This Melody Bowl was upright in the tree and includes a place where the bark dipped in to the tree leaving a space in the wood. While this adds to the beauty and interest of this piece it is not large enough to affect the sound. At 41cm across this Melody Bowl is easy to handle and light enough even for frail people to play.
