Possibly the last Lyre Bowl we will ever make in Rosewood is now sold to a sound healer in Wisconsin.

This is true collectors piece. For environmental reasons we do not buy exotic timbers from far away countries. When the Master Woodturner who taught me more than any other died recently his son passed a single board of Rosewood on to me. Two bowls of very similar size and numerous sets of tuning pegs are possible from this precious wood. The first is now sold.

Rosewood grows very slowly producing dense and extremely colourful timber. This piece is of Indian origin. The tone is like the wood, dense, crisp and shiny with a hint of esoteric mysteries/Indian wisdom.

All Sounding Bowls are future collectors items, the Stradivari of the future. With Rosewood being so hard wearing this will be a real heirloom. Listen in to the sound featured here.

The eleven strings can be tuned to either the traditional pentatonic scales or the modern diatonic octave. The sound sample below gives you both.

There is a video of the previous one on YouTube. As you can see the colours in this one are even more resplendent.
